Orientation Materials

We welcome individuals and organizations to join us after getting to know who we are. Ideally there is a 1-3 month Orientation, where people can explore these various materials, attend online or in-person meetings (strategic discussions, public topical meetings, or organizing trainings), and connect with our leadership to talk more. Membership and involvement is not one-size-fits-all, and the most important thing for us is to build relationships. In the long term, we want people who we can train with to become leaders in a revolutionary movement, and/or people who can share the word and recruit many others. You don’t have to be poor, but we want you to understand the lessons that the organized poor have to teach the rest of our class. We try to center leadership of the poor, but all are welcome who agree with our mission.

Mission: We are building a nonviolent Poor People’s Army to keep people alive and to build a cooperative economy and society.

The Poor People’s Army is also known as the Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign, which formed out of the Kensington Welfare Rights Union in the 1990s. (We are not the “Poor People’s Campaign,” which was founded by a former intern in 2018.)

You are also welcome to propose new projects after your orientation period.
